Ruth completed her PhD in clinical psychology from IUPUI, with a predoctoral internship at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in serious mental illness throughout her research and clinical training. Ruth was a T32 postdoctoral fellow at UCLA, conducting work on the impact of stigma among individuals with early psychosis. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University, focused on recovery-oriented intervention for people with serious mental illness and those experiencing homelessness. Ruth is currently a clinical instructor at Brown University Medical School and a clinical psychologist at Rhode Island Hospital. Her research focuses on uncovering factors associated with resiliency and addressing barriers to recovery, particularly stigma resistance–immunity to negative effects of stigma.
